"I should move to Mountain View"
These designs come at an interesting time. Recently, and in a previous article that I posted, Apple made headlines with its space shuttle-esque plans for its new campus. Looking like an enormous donut, Apple's campus comes off as more arrogant and dominating of the landscape. Comparatively, Google's space is more humble. It doesn't pretend to know what it needs to use buildings for in 25 years, so they decided to go with a design that would keep them nimble. Google is famous for entering ventures that have differing levels of success. In order to fully leverage new business ventures outside of Google's normal search business, they need to be able to adapt accordingly.
